Daniel Murphy
Safe at home with Jesus

We just arrived home from the beach tonight. I took so many pictures of Adam's first trip to the ocean. I was planning a Sunday Snapshot of our trip. I came home and found out that little Daniel went home to Jesus last night.

He fought hard following his heart surgery. He was so courageous and an inspiration to many. My Sunday Snapshot post is dedicated to him.

He, his parents and his Grandpa Jim were part of our travel group this year to China. I am so glad he had the love of his family before going home to heaven.

Winding Down...I think

Sam had her last day of preschool last week.
They had an ice cream party to celebrate.

Look who was first to the table for ice cream.

And look who joined her.

Enjoying their ice cream.

Sammy and her friends.

Adam loved playing in the classroom with his sister.
Actually this will be his classroom next year.

And the beloved Miss Anne and Miss Lori will be his teachers.

Sam will miss them so much. She had such a great year!

I say we are winding down but it feels like we are gearing up. I looked ahead to June, July and August and our calendar looks full already. How does this happen so quickly?

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.
Thanks to all the soldiers and their families that serve our country.

Adam and I are headed to Duke next week for a second opinion about untethering surgery.
I will post a new medical update when we return.

By the way, I hope you like the new blog look. I will be doing a post about that also.

Harmony Outreach

I really can't say enough good things about this organization. They saved Adam's life and many other special needs orphan's lives. Check out their website and fall in love with the kids. We did and now one is living permanently in our home. They prepared him so well for a family and really we have not had any issues we thought we would with an older child adoption.

John Bentley, the founder of the organization would love to come speak at your church or to your group about their work. We spent time at Harmony House in January when we were in China adopting Adam. We held the twins and Mark, and William. I fed Blossom. She has severe CP but the sweetest spirit! The nannies were wonderful and Lily the house manager is terrific. If you have any questions about any of the children just send her an email and she will respond.

We have been involved with this ministry since our "chance" meeting with John Bentley in the Beijing Airport in 2006 when we were adopting Samantha.

Not everyone can adopt but everyone can do something. They always need sponsors for the children. It is how we met Adam. So you just never know. Once God breaks your heart for the cause of the orphan there is no turning back. I am so glad he broke mine.

Blessings to you!

(If anyone reading knows how to create a link to another website or blog please let me know. I have researched it but can't figure it out.)

Anyway, I hope you will check them out!

Jr/Sr Prom

I have been very sentimental about my oldest boys lately.
Last week C.J. turned 16, this week Stephen attended his Jr. Prom.
He is our oldest and is finishing his junior year of high school.

The years have flown by and we have just one more school year until he heads off for college.

He is a great big brother to the littles. They call him T.
We like to call kids by initials around here.

He made me a mama but he doesn't take after me at all.
He's super smart and driven!

He wants to be a pilot and serve his country in the US Air Force.

So where's his date you ask?

Who needs a date?

Apparently, several of the guys don't have dates.

Actually , T and his girlfriend broke up about a month ago.
They were supposed to go to prom together but later decided not to.
I am glad he decided to go anyway!

Greg told him girls only complicate things and he would have a great time anyway.

I am not sure that was the best advice he's ever given our son but Stephen took it and had a great "uncomplicated" time at the prom.

Blessings to you!

So two posts in a row about my teenagers means you probably won't see them again for a while.
They will be back sometime in the future. Probably once football starts.

Sixteen Years ago today!

Sixteen years ago the cutest sweetest little boy arrived.

He was so cute and so so good.

His name is Christopher James.

We know him as C.J.

We used to call him Cee Gee Pee Gee.

Then later on we called him just Ceeg

We still sometimes call him C.J., never Christopher, but mostly just C!

Call him what you want, he is our pride and joy and we love him very much!

Happy 16th on the 16th!

Mom and Dad

Blessings to you!

Happy Mother's Day!

My gifts..

and treasures.

A gift is something given to you that you want but usually don't deserve. They usually come in beautiful packages. I have three of those.
A treasure is something that you have to search for. Treasures are not easy to find. They are usually hidden away and when you find them you are amazed at the wonderful gems you have found. I have two of those.

I have been blessed with gifts and treasures!

Humility before Honor

Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the Lord teaches a man (or mom) wisdom,
and humility comes before honor.

Proverbs 18:12
Before his downfall a man's(or mom's) heart is proud,
but humility comes before honor

The (or mom) part I added just for today.

Have you ever been humbled as a mom?

Who couldn't answer yes to that.

Sometimes I think the gift of motherhood is God's way of humbling us.

You can't control children.
They will say bad words, scream in the middle of a crowded store,
act up in restaurants, make a bad grade, make bad decisions, not do as they are told,
and I could go on and on.

So today and every day if any honor is due to me as a mother, it is because of the grace and strength and humbling that comes from my heavenly father.

I trust that His strength is made perfect in my weaknesses. I trust that he will hear my prayers of protection for my children. I trust that each of my children were His plan and they are all a gift or treasure from Him.

And I hope the next time I am humbled as a mom, you know the kind of humbling that brings you to your knees, I will remember that God says humility comes before honor.

Happy Mother's Day!

Blessings to you!

Chinese Cultural Event

I tried to get some good pictures of my three youngest in their Chinese attire.

Adam had other ideas.

The Lion Dance

Stephen reading a Chinese children's book

We went to a Chinese Cultural event at a local high school.

There was another event earlier in the year at our high school but we were unable to make it.

My oldest son has had 5 years of Mandarin in high school. He has taken Chinese 1-4 and now he is in IB Chinese.

He read children's books at this event.

There really are many ways to enjoy Chinese culture in our area.

This event included a Chinese dinner, entertainment including the Lion Dance, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, the fan dance, ping-pong competition, mini lectures and break out sessions.

We had a great time!

Blessings to you!

PS- Adam's foot is getting better everyday. Thanks again for the prayers.

His foot and leg on Sunday.
His foot and leg today.

So there it is.

The foot.

It's been MRI'd

It's been X-ray'd

It's been on three different antibiotics.

Today it looks a little bit better.

We are hopeful that he will not end up in the hospital.

We know it has not been fractured.

We know there is no infection in the bone.

Pray that this next set of antibiotics does the trick.

Thank you for the prayers.

Blessings to you!
