It's beginning to look alot like...

CHRISTMAS!

We decorated our house Saturday. When we woke up Sunday morning Adam was so sad because Santa didn't come and he didn't fill our "socks". He really was tearing up. Of course we were laughing and explained to him that Christmas was still a month away.
I have some work to do with him so he understands the real meaning of Christmas!

Adam's First Thanksgiving

This year we are so thankful this little guy is with us.

We are certain he did not like the collards.

But he did enjoy the rest of his first Thanksgiving meal.

The kids table. No matter how old you get if you started out at the kids table
you stay there until you host your own Thanksgiving dinner.

This year my sister hosted Thanksgiving which means I host Christmas!

My cousin Michael joined us from SC.

My mom and I enjoying our meal.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We hope you did too!

A Get Away

I was able to get away last weekend to the
beautiful mountains of North Carolina.

We have a fantastic time of shopping, hiking,
hanging out, playing games and eating really good food!

We wake up to this view every morning.

This is the sun coming up over Grandfather Mountain.

It is spectacular.

We stay at the home of my friend Julie's parents.
It is absolutely beautiful and it is so
generous of them to let us stay there.

We have some great cooks in our group and because of
that we have to go for long walks on a hilly golf course.

This is one of the homes on the golf course in
the neighborhood where we stay.
I know we are roughing it!
This is us on the golf course minus Laren.
Poor Laren has a bad back. It was a good thing she
didn't go on this walk with us.
The hilly golf course was really a mountainous golf course
and the trip back up the mountain just about did us in.

We stopped for one more hike before heading home Sunday.

I love this trip and my group of friends.
We study God's word together and have been together for 7 years.

It is just so nice to get away!

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Combis for the invitation to stay at your lovely home!
It is a blessing to us!

Moving on!

It is time to move on. I have mourned the loss of football season
and now we have something new.
YEAH C.J.!
He made the JV Basketball team. He wanted to tryout last year but didn't.
He is 6feet 3 inches.
The kid is made to play high school basketball.
We are so happy for him and look forward to the games!

This is Matt and Stephen back in grade 4 I think.

Here they are as Seniors.

Today they turned in the # 5 and # 22 jerseys. I was sad as Stephen left the house with his football gear this morning all ready to turn in. It has been his for four years and next year someone new will wear it. I just can't imagine. Can ya'll tell I'm just not ready to let go?

Anyway, onward to basketball!

It Is Over!

It is over!
The field is empty.
We lost!

Stephen's last Maverick Walk

His last warm up

Some of his last plays

His good long time buddy Mikey #64

No celebrating

Just sadness as he leaves the field for the last time.

He has some good memories.

There have been highs and lows.

We will miss our number 5!

We love you Stephen and have so enjoyed the last 4 years of football!

Senior Night

October 29th was Senior Night at our High School.

The younger two hanging out at our tailgate.

A tight squeeze from Adam

We must have the big cookie to celebrate

Let's Go Mavericks!

Sam and Adam are their brothers biggest fans!

Stephen with his sweet girlfriend Emily

Stephen and Matt longtime friends

Our school celebrated Senior Night a couple of weeks ago. Each senior was recognized on the field during halftime along with their parents. The kids were given a framed picture of an action shot from this season and the moms were given flowers. It was nice and sad all at the same time. Stephen did not play in the game but he did dress out for pictures sake. He is recovered from his concussion and should be back in the game this week.

We start the playoffs this week as the number one seed with home field advantage. In the weeks that Stephen has been out the defense has developed into a solid team. The kid that took his place is playing great. This is great for our team but not so great for Stephen. As this will be his last chance to play on the field he has played on for the past four years we hope he has a chance to get in. It seems unfair that he was having such a great season, he gets hurt, is out and now loses his starting position his senior year. We keep telling him God has a plan for him.

We are hopeful we will see him play again Friday night. We will let you know how it goes.

Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.
