We had a great 4th of July.
At least the first part of the day was great.
We decided to try something new this year.
We knew the local minor league baseball team had
fireworks following the game on July 4th.
We thought, "What a great idea, we will have parking, guaranteed seats,
concessions AND we can see the game AND fireworks."
Perfection- yes it was my idea!
Sammy fell asleep on the way there.
Little did we know how much she would need that nap.
The evening started out great. There is a merry-go-round at the stadium.
Everyone was smiles!
What the pictures don't show is the 100 degree heat, a packed stadium and...
a baseball game that ended at 10:45pm.
The fireworks started after the game!
This is when it started to fall apart.
It was about the 8th inning of the never ending game.
We kept assuring Sam and Adam that it was almost time for the fireworks.
However, after the game was a ceremony.
It was to honor our military men and women and was a very nice ceremony.
Things were really falling apart at this point.
The show started after 11:00pm.
Finally they started and guess what?
We could NOT see them from our seats.
We sat under an overhang and the fireworks were too high to see.
This is when I fell apart.
We had to find a place to stand to see them.
We were done, all of us, and left before the show was over.
Next year we will be looking for a new place to see fireworks.
Oh well, even after all this time parenting we are still living and learning.
