Moving on

The past couple of weeks have been a tad bit hard on a parents emotions.

CJ graduating, Audrey Kate moving on to the 8th grade, Stephen on
the verge of being a junior in college, all
of these things can be tough and leave you asking

"Where has the time gone?"

These two are also moving on.

I can hardly believe that these two are going to second grade.

They received their diplomas too.

They had a wonderful teacher and assistant.

Mrs. McConnell, their teacher, is going to China this summer.
We are trying to coordinate a trip to Adam's orphanage while she is in Beijing.
That would be Adam's second teacher to visit his original home.

It is unheard of really.

Mrs. McConnell's husband has been serving our country overseas this whole school year.

We thank him for his service.

Two Guangdong girls.

From Guangdong, China to the small community of Marvin,
these two were together for Kindergarten and first grade.

They are best friends and I hope they stay together.

Can Samantha and Adam possibly be in the second grade?

This also leaves me asking "How can I be this old?"

He did it!

The ceremony started off with a personal touch.
The graduates baby pictures were shown first.

Followed by their senior pictures.
This was for all 362 graduates.

I found a flag representing his new school in the auditorium.

The senior faculty at Marvin Ridge are some of the best
teachers I have ever known.

The picture is blurry but he is hugging his wonderful counselor.
We have some top notch people at Marvin Ridge and Ms. Ashley Lawson is
the top of the top.

Walking across the stage to get the long awaited diploma.

A big hug for Mr. Cook.
The best principal ever.
He knows these kids and their families.
Not because they were troublemakers, or the brightest students.
He knew everyone and the families because he WANTED to know them.

Diploma in hand!

Time to celebrate his accomplishment.

He finally spots us in the audience and gives a fist pump.

Look at his smile.

This is his good friend David.

The proud parents.

Proud grandparents!

And Pappy!

His good friends, Matt, Alex and Chase.

It was a wonderful and evening.

Congratulations CJ!

We are so proud of you!

National Junior Beta Club

Monday Audrey Kate was inducted into the National Junior beta Club at her school.

She is in this group somewhere.

The club is for students with high academic performance and encompasses service also.

A couple of her good friends were inducted too.

She and Summer have been friends since the second grade.

Good Christian friends need to stick together.

Congratulations Audrey Kate.

We are so proud of you!

Jump Start

Last Friday was CJ's Jump Start Day at
Gardner- Webb University.

It was a day to get your college id card, sign up for meal plans, revise
your freshman schedule and meet new people.

Greg and I went with him.

We all three agreed that the campus and school are so nice.
Everyone was so helpful and the day was exceptionally organized.

This area is right outside his dorm.
We went to the student store and loaded up on some new GWU spirit wear!

One of his freshman classes will include a self discovery portion that helps answer the question "Who am I?", "Who do I want to be?" and "What is my testimony?".

As Christians we have always asked our children, To Whom do you Belong?" "What do you stand for?" The hope is that the answer is "I belong to Christ and I stand on and for his word".

This class will help solidify this in these young adults minds.

I am so glad this is part of his freshman experience.

His major is listed on this sign.

Can you guess it?

John 4:14
But whoever drinks of the water I give him will never thirst.

I am so excited for CJ and to see the plans God has for his life.

Graduation is in a week.

Announcements sent....check

Party planned....check

Oh how can this be happening again?

I am still not ready and it is not any easier the second time around.
