Smithfield Tournament

Adam was so excited about his tournament last weekend. He LOVES to play basketball.

As we were driving in Greg kept telling Adam "We own this town " trying to pump him up.

Finally he told Adam "We own this town... that's why it's called SMITHfield!"

Adam cracked up and kept saying "Yeah we own this town!"

He played great and our team did so well.

It is great fun!

One thing they did at the tournament was have a siblings game.

We have never been to a tournament that had this type of game.

Audrey Kate and Stephen got to play.

That is Stephen wearing number 50.

They both agreed that it was very hard.

Stephen had a hard time maneuvering the chair and keeping the ball.

It took two games to finally get the hang of it.

Both Stephen and AK scored baskets.

They have a much better appreciation for how hard it is and how strong your upper body needs to be to play.

The team with Coach Mike and Lottie.

This is the best team!

I have never seen sportsmanship like this.

All teams could learn something from these guys!

We finished the weekend by celebrating three special events.

Stephen and AK's b-day.

And Adam's Gotcha Day.

It was a great weekend!

Adoption Update

You know the saying "No news is good news"?

Well that does not apply here.

We need news of a TA coming from a far off land.

We need TA!!!!

Happy 21st Birthday Stephen! Happy 14th Birthday Audrey Kate!

Where did you go sweet little baby of mine?

It seems like just yesterday you were here.

Time marches on and now...

you are off doing your own thing.

Where are Batman and Robin and the days of super heroes?

They are long gone now.

Happy 21 years of life!

We thank God for the gift of you!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Seven years later....

Where did this silly little girl go?

You are also so full of life!

And so happy!

You are a joy to all who know you!

Happy 14th birthday sweet girl!

I am glad you are not going anywhere any time soon.

He Paid it All!

I hope this song blesses someone today.

I listened to it yesterday while on the tread mill.

The words will still with me this morning.

My Lord
Where would He want me to go
Just across town
Or a place where I don’t know a soul
Just tell me where
And I’ll hit the road
With no time to spare
And no heavy load

" Oh please Lord let us be done"

That is one of many many prayers adoptive parents pray when trying to get through the paperwork part of the process.

I think, but dare I say, we are done.

This stack of papers below just about took me down.

It was like a little mini adoption process all in itself!

This paperwork is currently in the hands of a courier.

Hopefully when it returns we will have 5 Chinese visas and our
Power of Attorney Documents sealed and ready for travel.

And unless I've missed something.. ("Please Lord let me have remembered everything")

.....we are done!

Hoping and praying our Travel Approval is issued soon.

After all the stress of the paperwork there is one thing that makes it all worth while.

This face. He keeps asking "When will my family be here? Please come soon."

We are trying to get there as soon as possible.

That leads me to my next prayer! Travel Approval please!!

Yes, adoptive parents are praying people.

How many of you have ever laid hands on a stack of paperwork in front of the man at the UPS Store and prayed out loud that God would protect it, let it land in the right hands, that there would be no fire on the UPS delivery truck, or UPS plane crash?

If you have ever adopted internationally you know exactly what I am talking about.

The rest of you think I'm crazy.

You might need to be a little crazy to walk this road.

Crazy in love with the One who put it on our hearts!

New Year's Day 2014

We started off the new year by heading downtown to go ice skating at the Holiday on Ice outdoor rink.
One problem... they were not handicap accessible.
Adam was so disappointed he cried.
We decided right then and there if we couldn't all skate then none of us were skating

So we opted for someplace warmer. We walked over to Bar Cocoa at the Ritz. We sat by the fire and enjoyed hot chocolate while we researched where to eat lunch.

We found Mertz soul food restaurant.

They had a New Year's Day buffet of every kind of southern cooked dish you can imagine.

All you can eat too!

We all enjoyed it!
The desserts were fabulous too.

What a way to start off the year.

We were missing our big boys but they were still sleeping when we left.

This morning the big boys headed back to college and we were all sad.

It has been a wonderful break.

We have had many family dinners, watched tons of football and really enjoyed each others company.

The house is quiet as I type.

We are back to our regular routine.

It is time to start eating healthy again.

It is time for all the kids to start studying again.

And it is time to get ready to add one more little face to this happy bunch.
