14 days until...

We are counting down the days until we can finally be on our way to Joshua!

Hoping and praying we do not see this mob scene at the airport again.

Oh that was a terrible day!

Joshua has gone back to school and is doing fine.

I can't wait to get there and see for myself.

This is the longest month ever!

Happy Birthday!/ adoption update

Happy 8th Birthday Adam!

We had plans to throw him a big party with the kids at Harmony House today.

That is not possible.

So I asked him what he would like to do today to celebrate.

The only thing he asked is if he could spend his Target gift card today and go to TCBY.

Yes sir, we can do that!

Thank you if you are checking in about our cancelled trip.

Thank you to everyone who is praying for us.

We will be fine.

Please pray for our Joshua.

I know it is not our fault. There are plenty of things in life out of our control and weather is one of them.

However, to a 6 year old who was so excited for us to come, who already had his party at school with gifts to take to America, I am sure it feels like one big disappointment.

I can't say for sure because I have never been in his shoes but I can only imagine it feels like one more adult who has let him down.

After 6 1/2 years he had gathered the courage to make the transition to a family.

And now he will wait for another month.

It will be the longest month for all of us!

Delayed

We should be on our way to China but we are not.

We are stuck here because of the snow.

We are doubtful we will get out tomorrow either.

Our trip may have to be postponed until March.

I do not know why we must walk this road again.

Yes, again.

If you were around in 2010 you will remember Adam's adoption trip was postponed three weeks because he was sick.

Our trip was cancelled with less than 24 hours before we were leaving.

That is how this blog got started and why it is called Praying Adam Home.

We are thankful Jianfeng is fine. We are still wondering why.

You can follow us when we finally leave at www.myadoptionwebsite.com/joshua

Until then I will keep this blog updated until we have a firm plan.

Adoption/ Maverick update

Oh my goodness my head is spinning.

We got TA last week just two days before Chinese new Year.

We are trying to get to Joshua as soon as possible.

Unfortunately because we were so close to the holiday we could not get one appointment confirmed.

However we are still planning the trip hoping to get the confirmation before it is wheels up!

Risky I know. He has waited long enough in my opinion.

We are praying that God will get us the appointment we need.

In the mean time I am busy as can be with preparations.

Packing for 6 people to travel to the other side of the world to two different climates in not all that easy.

Here is what I have been up to:

Calling the schools to get the kids out for the trip

Shopping and packing, unpacking and packing again

making sure we have supplies for all of Adam's needs

lining up care for the dogs

praying, praying, praying

making sure the big boys will be okay

making flight and hotel reservations.

reading books to my two Chinese babies so they know what to expect and how they might feel

communicating with Joshua's caregivers about our plans

praying, praying, praying,

contacting other adoptive mama's whose babies I will love on seeing if they want to send anything with me

getting prescriptions from the pharmacy

discussing the finances a 100 times and more with Greg

collecting supplies from my friends to deliver to Harmony House

praying, praying, praying

All the while our regular life goes on.

And sometimes that can be a little overwhelming too!

This weekend we took Maverick over to CCA where AK rides.

We loaded him on the trailer and headed over Saturday morning.

He's been doing so good that we wanted her trainer to ride him and give us her opinion.

He also has developed some bad habits we want to break.

Audrey Kate as not as strong of a rider as her trainer and Maverick can get away with being a little lazy with AK.

He looked beautiful and did so good.

AK had a lesson on him after her trainer rode.

She is so happy to be riding him again.

We are hoping he holds.
He is not ready to come back yet.
We are not going to rush it.

Praying like crazy that I am kissing this face on Valentines Day!

Snow!

Sweet Cody loved the snow.

So did Adam.

I love the next several pictures.

I tried to get one of Sam and Adam but there was a photo bomber.

He eventually just pushed his way through.

I am not sure why he had to go between them instead of around them.

You can see we barely got any snow but in our area that means 2 1/2 days out of school.

The kids had a blast!

Chinese New Year Celebration

We had so much fun with our friends
Friday night celebrating CNY!

Adam chose not to wear his silks but was still excited to celebrate.

Samantha and Lin wanted to get all dressed up.

I am so glad Samantha and Lin have each other.
They are from the same Province in China and have been together in the same class for three years.

Good friends who share your same story are a blessing!

Happy Year of the Horse.

If it all works out we will be in China for the last day of Chinese New year celebrating.

We are hoping and praying it all works out.
